Hypersolid and Google at SXSW 2026

Amsterdam, 18 November 2025

Hypersolid will join Google in the official program of the international SXSW (South by Southwest) festival in Austin, Texas, next spring. The session, “The next digital wave excludes millions. Let’s fix it,” explores how technology and spatial digital design can contribute to a more accessible world where people move more freely and feel better connected.

The panel consists of David Vogel (Executive Experience Director, Hypersolid), Ryan Howard (Google Experience Institute Co-Lead, New York), and Rachel Lowenstein (Co-founder of The Neu Project). The session will be moderated by Kerrie Finch (Co-founder, Also Known As) and was selected from thousands of submissions by the official SXSW panel team.

SXSW Austin is globally recognized as one of the most influential conferences at the intersection of creativity, technology, and music. Since the festival’s start in 1987, a Dutch agency has only rarely been invited to be part of the internationally curated program, making this recognition for Hypersolid all the more special.

Neuro-inclusivity as a starting point for digital and spatial design

The collaboration between Hypersolid and Google focuses on neuro-inclusivity: designing experiences that account for different ways of perceiving and processing information, such as for individuals with ADHD or autism. Through this partnership, they are investigating how digital systems and physical environments can reinforce each other to create inclusive, sensory experiences.

Globally, Google welcomes thousands of visitors daily across hundreds of offices, experience centers, and event venues. Over fifty of these locations are specifically designed for visitors to experience stories and information via digital screens. To make this experience consistent and meaningful, Hypersolid is developing a system with Google that brings design and technology together, establishing how digital content behaves in physical environments. It connects screens, light, and sound into one cohesive experience across space and time.

Neuro-inclusivity in physical space

The project not only addresses the digital accessibility of screens and interfaces but also the physical experience of the space itself. Factors such as light, color, sound, and rhythm play a significant role in how people concentrate, orient themselves, and feel comfortable.

David Vogel, Executive Experience Director at Hypersolid: “It’s a tremendous honor to speak at SXSW alongside Google. The selection of a Dutch agency from thousands of submissions shows that neuro-inclusivity is becoming increasingly important globally, especially as digital experiences ‘escape’ the screen and increasingly take place in physical space. With Google and The Neu Project, we want to demonstrate how well-designed experiences can contribute to a world where everyone feels welcome and included.”

The joint initiative by Hypersolid and Google forms a new framework for accessible and inclusive spatial design, with the ambition to make it publicly available in the future (much like Google's Material Design system), enabling designers and developers worldwide to better respond to people's diverse needs.
