As a low-cost SIM-only telecom brand, HollandsNieuwe is all about simplicity and user control. But making smart decisions at scale requires smart data.
Efficient and cost-effective
We worked closely Hollands Nieuwe to gain more insight into their data by transferring the contents of their old on-premise business intelligence server to a cloud solution. This allows them to deliver the best service to their customers efficiently in the most cost-effective manner.

Increased security
Security has been fully re-established in the new setup, with the added benefit of scalability. Improvements to the monitoring layer has also dramatically improved the data quality, while AWS credentials make sure all data is securely stored and easier to manage going forward.

Smarter data integration with secure access and real-time monitoring
The partnership kicked off with dual proof of concept in Azure and AWS to determine the best cloud fit. Both environments were fully configured, complete with connected data sources, visualizations, alerting, security, and monitoring. After extensive testing, AWS was selected as it best aligned with the cloud standards of parent company Vodafone. With comparable performance across platforms, the architecture was easily replicated.
HollandsNieuwe’s legacy setup relied on a single on-premise data server, which limited visibility and flexibility. We helped transition to a hybrid model that integrates on-premise and AWS Cloud resources into one environment. This makes it easier to manage and monitor data from a single source of truth. A Grafana dashboard provides real-time insight into database uptime, while alerting tools in the cloud environment ensure issues are flagged early.
Security has been fully re-established in the new setup, with the added benefit of scalability. Access to data is more controlled and better aligned with user roles, while login is faster and more intuitive. The infrastructure supports dynamic scaling, taking server load and storage use into account and keeping performance stable as demand shifts.
The monitoring layer has also been improved. Data that previously went unchecked is now automatically validated, with notifications for anything that doesn’t meet set standards. This has led to a noticeable improvement in data quality. With AWS credentials in place, all data is securely stored and easier to manage going forward.
Seamless transition with a future-ready foundation
The collaboration with HollandsNieuwe was hands-on and iterative, with developers closely aligned to the business context behind every feature. Regular Q&A sessions ensured clarity around data dependencies and functional priorities, making the platform not only technically sound but also tailored to real operational needs.
To support a smooth transition from on-premise to cloud, the entire environment was built using Terraform templates and AWS Lambda components. This approach allowed for exact replication of configurations, reducing the risk of surprises during deployment. With a CI/CD pipeline in place, new versions can be deployed quickly and reliably—settings, access controls, and performance parameters all carry over automatically.
This project focused on building a scalable, secure data platform through targeted migration and optimization. The result is a robust foundation that simplifies future development and enables HollandsNieuwe to grow with confidence.
