Engaging the top 1% of STEM talent
IMC is a leading global market maker known for deploying state-of-the-art algorithms, statistical techniques, and innovative technologies to execute its investment strategies. A highly competitive field that requires a constant influx of top-tier talent. Specifically, STEM graduates from the very best universities around the world.
Competing for that talent means going head-to-head with some of the most attractive employers in the world. To win, IMC wanted its audience to experience the true complexity, pressure, and inventiveness of algorithmic trading. It set out to show how relevant STEM skills like engineering, mathematics, strategic thinking, and creativity are in today’s trading environment. Not as an introduction, but as a real test of capability.
To do this, Hypersolid and IMC teamed up to create something beyond a recruitment campaign: an experience. We created the most sophisticated online trading challenge—a global, team-based trading game where players compete in a simulated market, combining strategy, their own algorithms, and collaboration to outperform others. Players can compete individually and in teams, but success at the highest level requires teamwork, coordination, and collective intelligence.

Trading challenge
The world’s most sophisticated trading challenge
What makes Prosperity different is that this is not a superficial branded game wrapped around the idea of trading. It is a real market simulation that demands deep understanding and can be played by deploying self-built algorithms.
Teams operate as trading crews inside a space-inspired universe of distant planets, volatile markets, and scarce resources. They build strategies, write algorithms and respond to rapidly changing conditions inside a competitive system designed to push them to their limits.
The teams that stand out are not simply the most technical. They are the ones who collaborate well, think strategically, adapt fast, and perform under pressure. That is exactly the kind of talent IMC is looking for. Instead of filtering candidates upfront on CVs alone, Prosperity reveals potential through behavior, decisions, and teamwork long before the first interview even begins.

Joint execution
Collaboration across every layer
Making Prosperity possible required deep technology knowledge. Platform development, experience design, visual design, and rich storytelling had to come together as one integrated system. The experience had to feel immersive and intuitive, while still staying true to the underlying complexity of trading.
To build Prosperity, we brought together a multidisciplinary team within IMC and Hypersolid. This started from the earliest concept thinking and continued through platform development and global rollout. Strategy, storytelling, UX, and visual design shape the world and the experience. IMC played a key role in crafting the algorithmic and manual trading challenges that define the core of the platform. Full-stack development, data, and security power the platform behind it. Generative AI helps scale content creation across in-game assets, trailers, and campaign visuals.
In close collaboration with IMC, we combined our expertise with their deep understanding of trading. IMC’s teams played a critical role in shaping the challenge logic, the market simulation, and the realism behind the mechanics. Our role was to translate that complexity into a seamless experience platform.

Community-powered
Built to go beyond recruitment
Over the years, Prosperity has evolved from a single activation into a recurring platform on IMC’s annual agenda. It does not just create attention around the brand. It actively uncovers talent through participation, performance, and curiosity. After three successful editions, Prosperity 4 was designed as the next step in that evolution. It is a more ambitious annual program with a completely reimagined space theme, new storylines, fresh challenges, and a brand-new visual direction.
And Prosperity does not end when players log out. Around the challenge, a highly engaged community has emerged that helps make the experience richer and more credible every year. Participants actively exchange tactics and ideas in Discord, where IMC experts are also present to answer questions and fuel discussion. Players have gone even further by creating tutorials and support content on GitHub, helping others understand the mechanics and improve their performance. Over time, Prosperity has become a real badge of honour within this audience, with winners and participants even referencing it on LinkedIn as proof of their skills.
That community is part of what makes Prosperity feel real. It is not just a campaign people pass through. It is a competitive environment people want to understand, master, and talk about.

Growth of the outpost reflects the rise of the team’s reputation

Teams can collect up to 32 badges by proving skill, strategy, and collaboration
No blueprint
Built on bold decisions
IMC and Hypersolid have been working together since 2021, continuously exploring how to push recruitment beyond its traditional boundaries. Not by starting with familiar solutions, but by building something that did not yet have a clear blueprint.
What makes this collaboration work is a shared willingness to embrace complexity. IMC is willing to invest in ideas that need to be tested, refined, and evolved over time. Each edition of Prosperity builds on the last. More refined, more ambitious, and more technologically advanced every year. What started as a challenge has become a recurring platform that combines deep tech, platform thinking, storytelling, and community into one integrated system for discovering talent at a global scale.
Prosperity proves that when you design for curiosity, participation, and real capability, the right people do not need to be convinced. They find their way in.
